Morgantown, W.Va. Announced as PrimeTime Shootout Venue

September 1st, 2009

PrimeTime Shootout, the nation’s premier showcase of high school basketball talent, has selected Morgantown, W.Va. as one of four sites to host the 2010 tournament. The tournament will be held at the WVU Coliseum and Morgantown High School, January 22 – 23, 2010.

The 2010 PrimeTime Shootout is being brought to Morgantown by the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau; the title sponsor is Wells Fargo. There are 24 high school teams, including players from West Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, California, and New York participating. More than 75 Division I top prospects and 40 All-Americans will play in the tournament series. The Morgantown tournament will coincide with the WVU vs. Ohio State game played on January 23rd.

“We are extremely excited to partner up with WVU and Morgantown High School,” stated Mark Iorio, Event Promotions Chairman of PrimeTime Shootout. “The host committee in Morgantown has treated us so well that it is going to be tough for the other venues to measure up to the standards that Morgantown has set. This is a remarkable experience for Jeff and I and we cannot wait until January 22nd.”

Founded in 1976, the mission of the PrimeTime Shootout is to provide an opportunity for high school athletes to showcase their talent in a safe, supportive tournament-like atmosphere. Past PrimeTime Shootout stars include LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers; Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets; and Jason Williams, Chicago Bulls. Esteemed Eddie Oliver of Hoops USA has labeled the PrimeTime Shootout the best high school hoops event in the nation. Additionally, the tournament has been featured in many sports publications, including Sports Illustrated and Slam Magazine.

All proceeds from the event will be shared with WVUH Children’s Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. The remaining 2010 PrimeTime Shootout sites include Villanova University (January 29, 30), Rutgers University (February 12) and Sovereign Bank Arena (February 13,14.)
